eliminating analog guages

I'm thinking of pulling the SR Navigator and gauges and completely filling the whole space with a big screen (16 inch will just fit) chartplotter. Part of the idea is to upgrade the VesselView to enable electronic gauge view on the newly installed screen. I'm a little hesitant about eliminating the analog gauges. Would appreciate any experience/thoughts on this grand scheme.

Having redundancy is not a bad thing. Still up grade the VV but keep the same screen size and classic guages.
