I had a situation where the power window vent got stuck in the open position. With a little persuasion I was able to free it up and close it. I was thinking a shot of silicone spray on the piston might help. Is that something that would be recommended or not? Anybody else experience that? If so, what is recommended to remedy the issue?

Couple of suggestions. First, try not to run the vent 100% open. They tend to hang up in that position more frequently. Second, lube the piston with white lithium grease and exercise it several times. I used that process on my 1994 370 and it was still working fine when I sold it in 2018.

Thanks Captain, I did as you said and back to normal. Working like new.

Bringing life back to this old thread, OP when your vent window hung in the fully open position were you still getting audible noise out of the motor running or does it shut off once its reached full travel? Having a issue on my 1991 350 DA vent window stuck in the fully open position.

No audible noise it just shutoff like it should but when I went to shut it, it was seized in the open position.

How did you free it up to make it close again? Mine opened fine but is now seized in the open position. I was unaware of this common issue when I went to open it the first time and then it stuck!

I had someone operate the switch while I was standing on the bow and gently pushed the window a bit and it engaged and closed. Be very careful so not to force too much. Obviously you don't want to break it. The lithium grease worked like a champ!
