If you need your Eisenglass replaced check out this company on the web(link below). Sounds like thier pricing is reasonable.

You're boatless but think they have good pricing? What canvas did you get and what for?
The writter is from Chesapeake and the business is based in a home in Chesapeake..... If you're going to promote your business do it openly!

And he doesn't know how to spell "their" in either his post or on his website....

Didn't realize there are different types of glass as in Isinglass and Strataglass ... I think Strata is the better one and you get what you pay for.

Just had two corner panels done for the bridge on a clients boat - he went with the Isinglass and it was only $150 for both panels LOCALLY! Another client is having all new panels made for his 53' Hatteras bridge (beautiful boat) at $4200 and that’s considered a deal!!!

Maybe I should email the guy who started the post and see what his price is ... think he'll cover shipping and handling?

I might test drive this. I have two front side panels I want to get replaced with strataglass. A local shop quoted $635 dollars total for both at $120/hr labor rate. The OP's estimator has those two panels at under $150 each for a total of under $300. Before I do that I have four aft corner panels that need new 40 gauge vinyl. Since I hardly ever use the full back camper (I use the one piece slant back instead), I may test out the risk of this venture by sending a couple of those panels on a scout mission. According to the website each sender pays their own shipping (we pay to send it to them, they pay to send it back).

I don’t blame you, this sounds reasonable to me. The 40 gauge strataglass is a better replacement for standard isinglass, it holds up better to UV, and that is the biggest contributor to the foggy coating you get over time with the isinglass.

Measure you panels and use their price cost estimator to find the bottom line. I just paid under 300 for the 3 front section pieces on mine from a local company. He did great work and used the 40 mill strataglass as well. I sure my front panels would be roughly the same size as yours.

PS: Notice the spelling of “their”. Got that right, don’t want to be called out on that one!

I just sent out 4 panels for 40g isinglass replacement. I talked to the owner earlier today (he was actually in Paris - he is a pilot) and had a great conversation with him. His wife does the work. If all goes well I'll then send him my two front side panels for strataglass replacement. His business is only clear replacement and zipper replacement on existing good canvas. He doesn't make/fit canvas.

Well, looks like it won't work out for me. Turns out the plastic on my panels goes all the way to the edge of the canvas framing, meaning everything (zippers, flaps, etc) is stitched through plastic. So to do mine right, everything has to be removed, new plastic placed and then everything restitched back onto the canvas frame. So the labor costs were higher than the site's estimator projected. Is this method of making canvas standard for all of you - do you all have zippers and such stitched through the plastic?

I can report this is an honest operation. He contacted me before he did any work and explained the situation and cost growth to me.

I thought I'd post back that I gave this a try with four of my aft camper panels that had worn original factory 20g clear vinyl. I had them replaced with 40g clear vinyl (not strataglass). My panels had the clear go all the way to the edges of the fabric, so zippers, snaps, flaps all were stitched over the clear. I went ahead and paid the extra labor to have everything removed and the full size of clear replaced. The local shops quotes were cheaper but only to cut the clear out and overlap the new vinyl with the old. The quality of work was extraordinary. The stitching was in perfect straight lines and everything was put back exactly where it was before. The panels that came back to me looked brand new. Not only was the clear nice and new, but the fabric parts were cleaned up and looked refurbished as well. I had regular dialogue both over the phone and via email with Jerry as we talked through difficulties and ideas. They whole experience was great and worth it. And his shipping methods to protect the completed panels were top notch.

Hi. I know you did the aft, but did you ever get a quote on the front 3? If so, how much?

Thanks.

I have a couple of friends in the business. The right way to do it is to the edge. The load is distributed equally when zipped.

I have another friend whose $18K strataglass enclosure is a wreck after a few years because the fixtures were not made stiff enough. The edges are wearing through the Sunbrella.

That's next. My front 3 are actually good as they were replaced by the previous owner with strataglass a few years ago. But my front two sides are still original and are going to get new strataglass. As soon as I take them down when the cold weather is finally over, I will send them out to Jerry. Probably about a month from now.

Hi - Who did your work? I need to replace by 3 front panels for my SD 290.
How has the work held up?
Thank you!
