Eisenglass Cleaner Retorer

I have not used this product, but have used several others through the years that had similar claims. I finally learned that using a LOT of elbow grease and warm water one time worked wonders. Afterwards, keep up with the dirt and rinse it and used a microfiber cloth on it frequently (I clean ours at least monthly). The products on the market all seemed to leave a film on the Isenglass and that would attract dirt like crazy.

After the Eisenglass is clean just treat it a few times a season with Lemon Pledge with a soft cloth on both sides.......it works great and it's cheap!

Good tip Thanks..... i bought the Mequires cleaner and polish as some guys here like it.....

I have used Meguires on the Eisenglass for 10 years. It works great.

Me too. Just did mine with Meguires about a month ago when I put them away for storage...

Do any of you guys that use the Meguires cleaner and polish finish it off with 303 for the UV protection? I was contemplating doing that, but with my luck I would develop some new Eisenglass dissolving compound in the process.

Directions: Material should be thoroughly cleaned and dry. Spray until evenly wet, overlapping spray areas. Allow treated fabric to dry thoroughly before use. Protect adjacent areas from over spray. Immediately wipe up any over spray before it dries. Note: 303 HTFG can be applied with an approved solvent type sprayer, brush or roller. Not for vinyl, clear vinyl, plastics, rubber, fiberglass or imitation suede.

I got a tip from canvas guy to use rubbing alcohol after cleaning the eisenglass with soap and water, then wipe it dry. Even though, it might look clean, there's still some dirt left which comes off very easily with rubbing alcohol. The last step, as apoltorak had mentioned, is to apply pledge, which leave a protective layer. I've tried this method last season and was happy with results.

I could see rubbing alcohol being good for getting at the edges - where the eisenglass touches the canvas and dirt gets in there. Great tip.

Jack, I think Skibum meant the Aerospace Protectant, not the Fabric Guard.

But, I've never thought about trying it. I use it on regular vinyl, sometimes on the fiberglass. Never thought about the clear vinyl. By the way, it's best to use this stuff out of the sun, otherwise you'll get streaking - then you have to do it again.

I use the Meguiar's stuff on the clear vinyl, too.
