I think my thermostat is has given up the ghost on my Atwood water heater. When I reset the ECO at the water heater, it turns on and heats up the water very nice and super hot, then quits. I'm having trouble finding replacement thermostats/ECO's for this model. Does anyone have any leads?

Funny I am dealing with that right now myself. I have an EHM 6-SM and the new PN is 91447 which is a TSTAT/ECO combination. I got it off Amazon. I think I'll just need to remove the spring and plastic "washer" so it'll fit. I'm trying to find a replacement heating element now just in case when I finally dig into this this weekend it's not the tstat/eco.

Hi Dale. What I could find online, the original p/n for the thermostat/eco kit was 90037. That looks like it was discontinued and replaced with 92052. That was also discontinued, and broken up (shipped without the mounting plate) to 92051 (which I couldn't find). I looked at p/n 91447, but it looked like it was for the gas water heaters? I couldn't find on Amazon where it fit the EHM 6-SM.

Investigating further online, it looks like the Whale/Seaward hot water heater F600/S600 is identical to the EHM 6-SM, and is manufactured by Attwood. The ECO for that heater is p/n 74563, and the thermostat is p/n 73129, but they look slightly different. I'm going to try to verify that these fit before I buy them. I found them on Defender and a couple of other sites.

That being said, I'm interested in the parts that you bought on Amazon to see if they work. Are the parts you bought the actual Atwood parts, or knock-offs?

Hi Ramblin' Guy,

I replaced the ECO/Tstat parts this weekend with what I got off of Amazon. Dometic is who quoted me the 91447 PN. I verified that the part numbers printed on the old and new were the same. Seems like a direct replacement. It looks like they are both the same part with just different heat specs. One opens at about 140 and the other opens at 180 degrees. I've never had them short out. The 140 degree one burned open.

All I had to do was remove the spring and the plastic washer. They both dropped right into the metal plate. Just be careful that you don't over tighten the mounting nuts. I had one twist off the WH.
