I just sold my '87 Seville CC

Looking to buy a 215 Express Cruiser, 1996 > or later, Maintained well, & ideally in very good condition.....w/ 5.0, or 5.7 MerCruiser.

I'd like to get some opinions of what a fair price range might be.........I've been doing alot of homework, and have a good idea, but would like to hear opinion(s) from any Forum members who might be able to help.

Thanks

Somewhere around $10,000 from what I've seen.

if the boat is equipped with a 5.0 engine, has been well cared for, and has acceptable number of hours the boat alone is probably worth $10 -12,000......if it has the upgraded 5.7 engine that is worth another couple thousand.....i believe that was $4,000 option when the boat was new....if there is a trailer included add another $1,500 - 2,000.....you also need to take into consideration what factory options are on the boat such as a transom sprayer, dual batteries, full camper canvas, trim tabs, pump out toilet, etc as well as any upgrades the owner may have done like replacing the cockpit vinyl.....all of these add value to the boat.....

and fresh water boats tend to have higher selling prices than salt water boats.....

so bottom line for a well kept fresh water 1996 - 2000 model 215EC with decent hours with a 5.7 engine and with a decent trailer i would expect the cost to be around $14 - 15,000......i know i would not sell mine for less than that since both boat and trailer are in excellent condition and considering all of the upgrades and modifications i have done.....

I just purchased a 1998 215 EC; in excellent condition; loaded with options; 346 hrs on a 5.7; w/trailer and negotiated a price of 12K
I think where you are in the country makes a difference in price; Cliff was spot on with his info. I have been patient and it payed off. I will send more info about my boat if you wish i.e. options list or photos.

There is more to my story; by the way I absolutly love the boat; great performance all around; I'm 6 foot the wife is 5.7 and we're very comforable in the cuddy

Hi BobG... Welcome to CSR!

Go to boattrader.com and key in your parameters. Gives a great idea of asking prices and location. Since "boats don't wear out they die of neglect and abuse," the condition of a boat is EVERYTHING! Don't get hung up on model year. How the boat was stored and care for will determine the price. I've seen 97 models in better shape and worth more than 09's and 10's because they were not used in salt water, trailered and always stored inside cover. Beware of salt water boats, outdrives and salt are not friends.

I too believe that cliff is on target with the price. the 215 EC is a great all round boat. I'm going on 9 years on mine and wouldn't take less than 14 or 15. People cant believe its 14 yrs old. I'm 6'2" no problem.

Get the camper canvas package from Great Lakes, if it doesn't have it already and you can stretch out across the aft bench. I'm 6'4" and can lay completely across.

you can still lay on the bench seat with the standard aft curtain installed but you cannot sit on the bench seat with the aft curtain installed without hitting your head on the curtain.....i agree the full camper canvas would be better and open up the usable cockpit space but it is an expensive option....you would just have to weigh the cost of the full camper canvas against how many times you plan to stay overnight on the boat.....if the weather is nice i like to sleep on the bench seat without any canvas cover installed and enjoy the 'open' feeling and looking at the stars.....

That is what I have is the full camper package which allows you to sit in there. As far as staying the night for me, it's more like taking a "ciesta" after happy hour.

Thank you for the warm welcome; I've been waiting a long time to become a member of CSR. As a new member I will have lots more questions than answers; however I have found the right place to be in either case.
