I've been to Norris with my 250DA and dragged that boat all over hell's-half-acre to a launch. We are returning to the same house rental across from the Flat Hollow Resort. This year I will be bringing my '01 280DA.... I would rather hit the closest marina to the the highway comming from I-75 and cruise the boat to Flat Hollow rather than drag the boat through the narrow roads in steep hills.. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I've been looking at Powell Valley.?? That looks fairly close to Flat Hollow and seems to be fairly straight forward from SR-63. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Dan,
I think AV guy is the only member here from Norris. You might look him up and drop him a email if he doesn't respond. Did you get a map from the boat show? Most of the maps will show the ramps.

do you stay off the water then? When do you go down? we usually go around July 4th.

I've got all the maps and I'm sure I can find the marinas but I'm looking for info about the roads approaching the marinas.... My 280 has the arch and a 9'5" beam so access on roads and overhead obstructions are my main concern. I'm also curious about the ramps, access, length etc... local knowledge type stuff.

We rent a house with my family, brothers, sisters and their children. luckily we have a house with a dock where my wife and I can find some peace.... we take several Kayaks and a seadoo plus my cruiser. We'll be there July 19th thru the 26th..

Dan- I live in Knoxville, but I'm never on Norris Lake, so I'm not any help. You might call Sequoia Marina and ask. I believe that Sequoia will have the easiest approach from the highway, but I don't think any could be truly classified as easy. Give them a call.

Dan,

I've been boating on Norris Lake for the last 4 years using my ski boat an just this summer I bought a 280DA. The closest marina I have found to I75 when coming from the north (Cincinnati) is Shanghai Marina. It is a very nice marina and is realatively new (7 years). I have made several friends at the dock and we ussually spend our weekends tied up in a cove with 5 or 6 other boats.

As far as proximity to Flat Hollow, it is quite a haul away expecially in a cruiser and with the gas prices the way they are, it can be expensive.

If you have anymore questions, please don't hesitate to email me.

Thanks, John

Dan,
I looked at my Norris map & it would appear that http://www.powellvalleyresort.com/index.htm
via old hwy 63 might be your best bet. I've never been to any of the ramps on the Powell side as we boat in the Big Ridge area.

Click on the link & give them a call. I'm sure they would give you any info you might need.

Here is another link you can use to get an idea of what the water depth will be when you go.

You are replying to an old thread from last January. I took my 290 down in June and Lt. Dan went down in July. We both used the ramp at Deerfield. Thanks for the good info though !

My bad.....the post popped up as one from the last 48 hrs & I thought it was a new thread.
Hope you guys had a great trip. Scott
