Can anyone suggest a good brand/type for the verado?

thank you

Thanks for the response. It does have a flush port. I would also like an earmuff for occasional use.

on google I see multiple suggestions but nothing specific to the verado. I wonder if anyone has used something that works well?

Why are thinking you need something special? It's the same intake as a regular Merc. Use the Merc flush device that has a pin through the center.

If your engine also has nose cone intakes, just put tape over it.

Thank you. I’ve just made so many dumb boating mistakes over the years I thought I’d ask. Regular Merc it is!

I have the Verado. Any muffs will work, but the Merc ones are nice. Use duct tape over the 4 nose cone holes (low water pickups) and any will work just fine.
And don’t run the motor on the flush port…

Crazy question... but could the reason I can never get my muffs to work on my Yamaha F250 (overheats no matter how many times I correctly set the muffs on intakes with tons of water pressure) be that I am not taping over the low water pick ups???

If it has low water pick ups... absolutely.

Other reasons are... not enough flow through a hose (actually being in the water provides much more water) and of course a scored wear plate/housing or a worn impeller that is OK in the water but "on the verge" when using a hose.
