We just bought one a couple of days ago.

Holy donkey crap, this thing works like nothing I have ever had before. Highly recommend this unit.

The suction is phenomenal, the brush motor is strong and never slows down, the attachments are convenient. Compared to even the central vac, this kicks it's butt.

I've had an older model Dyson "Animal" for years now. Incredibly well engineered and bulletproof materials. They are worth every penny and I would never buy anything else again. I was looking at the Ball at $400 only a few days ago but my Animal still works great!

I saw a special on Dyson. Can't the Ball communicate via modem with Dyson and troubleshoot itself ??? If not that may be a future model...

Just got me a second one of these, one for home, one for the office. Rated a "Best Buy" in Consumer Reports. At $70, it can suck a golfball through a garden hose. I just can't see spending that kinda coin on a designer vacuum...

Have considered a Dyson a couple of times but have heard it is hard to push & pull. We've got a self propelled Hoover that does a pretty good job considering we have a pack of dogs in the house.

I like my Miele. It really does a nice job of not letting dust pass through. My dad has a Dyson and likes it, but I'm not sure how it compares as far as clean exhaust air.

We stopped subscribing to COnsumer Reports because their recommendations were in four instances where we followed them well, crap. They BTW rate the Dyson less than optimal, but like I said they are in my book not trustworthy any more.

I am thoroughly unimpressed with Consumer Reports. I don't value JD Power either.

We have a Dyson. I didnt know what it was when I bought it. A co-worker was selling it for his very rich friend who moved out of NYC back to Paris. Anyway, he wanted $150 for it and I thought it was too high, then my other friend told me it was a $500 vacuum. I bought it and love it. Very versatile, no bags, easy to empty, HEPA filtration, long cord and easy to move. It it ever breaks I will definetely buy another one. (Kinda like my Weber grill, once you have one, you will buy it again)

Love my 2 Hoovers! Consumer Reports can dwell a bit too much on minutia - when they complain that the "radio controls are hard to find," that's just stupid. BUT their research on repair history is voluminous and their tests are unbiased and well-controlled.

Man, I'm with you. I thought this is going to be a long winter.

Bill what kind of iron do you have?

 My iron is a sunbeam, I believe. Do you want to know? I iron my own clothes every single morning as part of my routine before work.

The new ball technology handles great, for the poster who asked. I will never go back to the regular wheel technology.

Good point about the filtration. It seems to have no odor, but I can tell they kind have glossed over the HEPA results, as usually this is a primary statistic. We always turn on the whole house fan when vacuuming for long periods to filter any particulate out that becomes airborne.

This will do until we get central vac during the remodeling and addition in a couple of years. Worth the money for this vacuum I believe. Everything about it was designed perfectly.

Go figure...... last night Kim is watching the Giants/Eagles game in the living room & I'm on an internet forum discussing vacum cleaners. :smt043
Now if I could just figure out a good way to store all my tupperware.........
