I have a KEC 12v DVD player in my boat. (340 08 DA)

When I insert a DVD it displays 'Loading' for a while then displays 'No Disc'. I tried a cleaner DVD and it read it once and completed the cleaning but no difference. Now it won't read the cleaner either.

I recall a similar post months back. If I need to replace this unit how is it removed?

Many thanks in advance...

Mike

Are the CD's clean with no finger prints on them ??.

If yes then clean the CD eye reader with alcohol. :smt001

Guys, Thanks for the replies. I put a cleaning disc in the drive today...the machine ate it. It will not eject. To make matters worse I do not have removal keys. Are the keys universal by any chance? I don't see an easy way to remove the bezel around this POS.

The bezel should snap off. I used a thin puddy knife to slide in the sides and it unlocked it for me. You're basically depressing a couple tabs about midway along the side the will allow it to slide out. You can work it from side to side in my experience.

Had to replace mine last year. Bezel should snap off. Got an exact replacement on eBay so it just slid back in. They include a new bezel, too. I was able to wiggle mine out after I removed that bezel.

I disconnected the POS player and connected an iPhone/iPod Dock Connector to the TV instead. I load movies on my phone or the kids' iPods and now I don't have a million DVD's sliding around in the cabin. Excellent picture and way more convenient.

This isn't the exact model but it's more or less close to what I have:

Not to get off track but do you buy itunes movies or is it possible to upload existing dvds into itunes like you can with music? If so, how much memory does a movie take up on an iphone?

I rip my DVD's using Handbrake and the average movie is about 1GB. They look and sound great on my phones/ipods and my Apple TV's at home.

End hijack.
