Dummy + Gun

It will be an interesting stand-your-ground defense. I mean he displayed his firearm, the other driver chose aggression by throwing the water bottle and he was obviously in fear for his life. All the classic elements.

His problem is that he contributed to escalating the situation with the brake checks.

He was mistaken in thinking that someone was shooting at his car. Bad use of force in my opinion, that will probably cost this guy some time learning why they call it the pokey.

What an idiot is right. Just goes to show what kind of kooks are out there packing that should not be. Crap like that shines a bad light on all gun owners and gives the anti-gun crowd ammunition for their stupid arguments.

That said, there are a lot of bad elements out amongst us that are a danger to the good people of our land. To remind you of what road etiquette or the lack of it can lead to, watch the movie "Unhinged" with Russell Crowe. After you have seen it, have your wife watch it and if you have driving age kids and you think they can handle it, have them watch it. It brings a new meaning to "be nice", because there is an "or else". Driving is the most dangerous thing there is for our families because a lot of it they do without us around to protect them.

Having a water bottle thrown at you is not justification for firing rounds off. To make matters worse it appears to be a pretty busy highway and as can be seen in the video his accuracy wasn't very good. He is responsible for every bullet that leaves that gun. And to the new guy here I am former law enforcement with several years of firearms training and experience and I carry just about everywhere I go so I speak from knowledge and experience.
This guy would have to articulate that he was in fear for his life (or serious bodily injury) for some reason and a water bottle will be a tough justification.

I'm not sure the arguments are stupid. I would say more like naive and misguided. Guns are a part of America, its culture and tradition. Guns won't be going anywhere without the creation of a police state that none of us wish to live under. This incident shows that the correct response in swift and severe punishment for all to see what happens when you lose control of your better senses. In reality you are more likely to die from the brake checking than you are from someone firing the handgun from another vehicle. So, should we take all the guns, or all the cars. No amount of legislation will 100% protect you from the randomness of life. And if there is some amount of legislation that would, would you still have a life?

None of what is in that video is "randomness of life" though.

There’s a saying , “the closer people are to the tall buildings the crazier they become.”

Imagine if that guy was your neighbor, hears a bump, and just starts blasting away because he thinks he can, not being aware of where his bullets may end up beyond the target. He's shooting in traffic... Complete fool.
After cutting the other guy off, if it was a mistake and not intentional, eat some crow, slow down, take the other cars middle finger, wave back, and move on.

Where the "stupid" part comes in is the argument the gun haters always bring up, "we have to get rid of the guns to stop the senseless gun violence". Why don't they get it that the criminals will always get guns by whatever means they have to, black market, robbing gun stores, stealing from friends or relatives whatever. The only people that will have their guns taken away by preventing legal gun sales is the people that are responsible gun owners. People like most of us on this forum. People that if you know they are packing and you are with them at the theater or company picknick, or wherever, it makes you feel safer not threatened. I love being in the open carry states. Nothing better than sitting at a sidewalk cafe enjoying lunch and look over and see a fella with a cowboy hat, callouses on his hands and leather belt with a pistol in full view. Thats America.

Well in this case it kinda is randomness because you likely had 2 hot heads that ended up in the same space and time. If one had stopped or not stopped for coffee/gas it wouldn't have happened. The randomness comment was more like the reaction of some to say take away all the guns so this kinda thing wont happen. Thats a naive response to a random event.

I completely agree which is why I hope he faces harsh punishment. I'm not assuming the other driver is completely faultless as well. That driver pushed the confrontation forward by riding his tail and then approaching his passenger window at speed. Not a poster child of good decision making either. That said, the shots do not appear warranted to me but every story has 2 sides. Whats boggling is he provided the video to the police himself. He totally felt like he took appropriate action in the situation and probably wanted the police to go after the other guy. I guess he gets some consideration for at least owning his actions after the fact.

He pointed his weapon before the water bottle was thrown. This tells me he was ready to shoot regardless of any justification beyond his hot head.

Former fire inspector. Disgrace.
Exactly...he's probably part puss, dumbass before he had a gun and thinks he's badass with one. He cut the guy off, maybe it was accidental, he doesn't like the response so he brake checks him, then he pulls the gun and gets ready....he'll show them, when they pass and flip him the bird he'll give them a look at his gun:cool:

The video is suspect, why is the camera aimed at himself?
Who shoots out their own glass? Then he turns the video in, yah right.

I don’t know? Modern dash cams are often two way and people are becoming dumber every day.
