dull fiberglass...???Vertglas/Klasse?

Has anyone ever used Vertglas or Klasse for dull fiberglass restoration?

Yes on Vertglass, works well, but you MUST follow the directions or you'll have a cloudy job. I will be applying a few maintainace coats before I put the boat back in for the season.

Klasse and Vertiglass are VERY different products.

my friend did the vertglass and I wouldn't be happy with the results if it were me. I would seriously look at polish and wax first.

Most problems with Vertglass or any acrylic product stem from improper surface prep. You have to remember that you are actually applying a clear coat of acrylic polymer over the gelcoat, so any surface imperfections present prior to application will be sealed in by the coating. This is just like painting a clear coat, cleanliness is essential. Most people don't get all the oxidation off or leave some dirt present and then get a poor job. Also, more coats of the material are better. The directions say about 5-6 coats from a bare hull, I usually use 10 coats. Don't let that scare you, its as simple as wiping a squeegie on a window. As soon as you reach the end of the hull, you can start over again on the next coat. I stager the start point with each coat to prevent lap marks. I can do my 300 DA below the rub rail in half a day, from a bare hull. Yearly maint. coats are required to keep the coating protected from UV, lots of people get lazy and don't do this and then are disappointed when the coating fails prematurly. I usually get 5-6 years before needing to strip down to bare glass and recoat. When that is needed, commercial floor wax remover will take the stuff off very easily.
I like the results I get with the acrylic Vertglass, it looks as good coming out of the slip in the fall as it did when I launced in the spring. Flat surfaces like the bow and decks will need to be stripped and recoated about every two years due to UV and being walked on and of course the birds.

But if you use Vaseline on your Harley before it rains you don’t have to do the dishes.
