West Marine = $50.99
Home Depot and Walmart sell them for $22.27 free shipping

West Marine wonders why people say they suck.

These thing probably cost 50 cents each to produce

Doesn't West Marine still do price-matches on any brick-and-mortar store's deals?

Only Amazon if the match has free shipping. I take a pic with my phone but they have to look it up themselves and you get to hold up the line…. It’s so much fun
My son bought me a WM gift card for Christmas. He said I know you hate the place but maybe this will make it better. I said thanks don’t do that again :)

Since their first preference is to rip you off as much as possible, than 'price match ' once they get caught, Id rather do business elsewhere. A 250 pct mark up over the competition's price set by some Ivy League private equity non boater quant trainee jerk, which was already probably at a 300 pct profit margin, is a bit much to accept for a one way rubber sh#t valve. I will only use them for their publicly available unlocked toilets when I am out doing errands which I will grant are usually cleaner than Home Depot's

I think my safe harbor marina charges 2x everything compared to west marine…

Of course. Because Safe Harbor is owned by more private equity scum (now public) who bought up all the marinas and slips killing competition everywhere and jacking up prices.

As of September 30, 2021, the company owned, operated, or had an interest in 584 developed MH, RV and marina properties comprising nearly 155,900 developed sites and nearly 44,900 wet slips and dry storage spaces in 38 states, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Stuff like duckbills and anything else I don’t need right this minute …I buy online. The only time I am in a WM is because it’s the only supply store around and I need something now….. or like you say to go to the bathroom :D:D

Invest in the REIT and get some of your money back;)

Stress Marine, only go there to look or buy when it’s a need it right now thing!

West Marine is the Boater's version of 7-11 or Speedway.
You been to an Autozone or NAPA lately?… I have been buying electric components for my golf cart. They are definitely using the WM rip off model without any price matching….it’s ridiculous

You guys and your first world problems. :)

so west marine charges a few bucks more for parts that go on $100,000+ boats. I for one like the convenience having both the Chicago parts store and 2 branches local to me.

You’re the reason WM exists…..it’s definitely not because of me

Yep, But as dvx said. 7-11 or Speedway, Shore Stop, Royal Farms and the like, carry the "convenience factor" an will be around for ever. Whether you shop there or not, @Carpediem44DB 's idea should allow you to recoup if you do shop there, or make some if you don't.
My bet is that they are not going away.

Kind a like women. Can't live with them... and pass the beer nuts.

Not all people, me included.

I like West Marine. I've chosen to shop there for years and will continue to choose to shop there when I see fit.

If you hate it so much, why do you go in there or purchase things there. It would be like a vegetarian going to a steak house and complaining they have a huge meat selection on the menu. You know what it is before walking in the door. Nothing has changed.
