Dual action polishers

I though I should follow up with what I purchased, and the results. I got a Griots Garage G9 DA polisher. It was easy to use and I had good results. There were a couple areas that needed some compound so I did use my rotary with a wool pad.

To go with it I got a selection of Lake Country pads: orange, white green and blue. I used mainly the medium polishing green pad on the blue hull. A couple areas had some scratches and I used the orange medium cutting pad there. The white top aides had more oxidation so a white and orange pad worked better.

For the polish, I used Smoove Bubblegum micropolish / high gloss polymer. Very happy with this stuff - easy to use and excellent results.

Speaking of results, here they are.

Nice job! I love looking at pictures like that.

That’s scary. One of scariest boat related things I’ve experienced is when the cord of my rotary polisher got sucked into the head at high speed.

Try keeping the cord behind your back and come over your shoulder to the machine. That will usually avoid that problem.

I use the Harbor freight it is lightweight with no resistances, you do not apply any pressure when working let the machine do the work, you have to use the right pads and clean them.
I have bad shoulders and when I am done I do not hurt at all, was the best change I made.
The attached pictures were done with foam pads this year.
What type of foam pads did you use? HF, LC what colors? Did you use a polish followed by a wax?

Very Nice ! Did you apply the Bubblegum with the G9 polisher? did you follow up with a wax? Type of Wax?

I use the tan to polish and the black pad for just wax.
I get all my stuff from Chemical guys

Yes, I used the Smoove Bubblegum with the Griots DA polisher and foam pads. It's a micropolish and high gloss polymer in one. You get the polishing and shine in one step, no need for a follow up product. Technically, Smoove recommends to use the Bubblegum circular polisher and their yellow wool pad (an excellent pad), or use a DA and foam pads then follow up with their White Cloud polymer. I just used the Bubblegum and was very pleased with the results.

Note that my blue gelcoat was basically new. If you have some oxidation or scratches the Smoove Pro-Cut 1000 Polishing Compound with a wool pad on a rotary is the bee's knees. Very easy to use, very effective. I used this on my white 2006 270 AJ with great results, and also after repairing a gouge in my blue gelcoat. It removed all the wetsand marks and made a mirror shine to the repair. If going the Pro-Cut route, finish with the White Cloud polymer.

I recently bought a ENEACRO DA polisher. Seams to be on par with the HarborFreight- but cheaper since HF changed their coupon system. Main use is polishing the boats and cars, which really don’t require more than a light polish / wax. Although I did use it to compound water spots out of my late FIL’s Lexus. So far it has worked perfectly. I started with the cheap pads that came with it, but have since started using the Lake Country pads. Mainly the orange and white for cutting polishing and the gray for final wax. I used their white microfiber to cut the water slots off the Lexus. For the boat which is stored indoors, use Starbright cleaner wax with the white pad followed by Maquiars Flagship and the grey pad. Buff Magic is my goto when more cut is needed.
