Does anyone know if the posted dry weight of a 1987 Seville Mid Cabin 21' includes the motor and outdrive. NADA has it posted as 3289lbs and I found the same weight in an old Sea Ray brochure. I have had the boat since 2010 but don't know if the stated dry weight includes the motor and outdrive.

Thanks,

John

I have fouund the same data as you have. Considering the size of the boat, I'd not be surprised to find this data is reasonably accurate. Headed up to look at a 1987 21' Seville MC this Friday with the Mrs. Wish me luck!

Funny, I'm taking my 1988 seville 21MC to be weighed on the trailer tomorrow. I will let you know. (I am also going with the 3289 dry weight)

What'd ya come up with? I'd like to know how reasonably accurate the factory spec is, please. Thanks.

Weight on trailer, still hooked to truck (which was off scales) was 5026 lbs. No fuel and no water in the boat.

Dry weights are the standard boat - meaning no options or engine upgrades. But, it does include the weight of the standard engine and drive. Most trailer certification plates will tell not only the carrying capacity but also the weight of the trailer by itself. Knowing the dry weight of the boat and the "unloaded" weight of the trailer, now that you have a scale weight, you can roughly figure the weight of fuel, oil, battery, gear, etc. that you have onboard. FYI, dry weights will almost never be perfectly accurate due to age and moisture absorption. Even right off the factory floor, they're not all exactly the same.

Do you have a lot of equipment in the boat, personal items, etc? Considering that it'll hold 300 lbs of fuel, plus whatever the water capacity is, looks like I'll definitely be using my boat trailer equalizing hitch.

That's not an accurate way to do this. The reason is that you still have to account for the tongue weight. The way you did it, the truck is carrying part of the weight. Roughly, you can figure a properly loaded trailer (with this size boat) to have somewhere around 300 - 600 lbs on the tongue.

Yeah, I realize that. I'm figuring about 250lbs tongue weight. (I can lift it, barely) I didn't need to be too accurate, I needed an answer of "Is it, below or over 5000 lbs) Its most def over, esp when its loaded.
Rixram, there wasn't much in the boat. A few life jackets. Even the fenders were out.

Gotcha.
