lol. dropped the boat off at the canvas shop near Conneaut, PA this morning. there was another older sundancer there that looked pretty big when i pulled in. went over to take a look and it was a 270. still big but only 2' bigger than mine. i thought it was at least a 300. anyway, it had a green top. does it belong to anyone here? i forget the name on the back though. it was probably about an '89 or so

Not mine, but your comment makes me chuckle. My 270 looks huge until it gets next to a 290, then it shrinks fast!

It's the cold water.

I visited my boat twice on the hard before sea trial. I recall thinking "this thing is absolutely massive" out of the water. Of course I get it home and they slip me next to a 370DA on one side and a 35 flybridge that's two stories tall on the other. ha.

My sad saga:

May 1991. First night in our slip on our first "Lake Michigan" boat. A 1989 268 Sundancer. Mary, me, and our two sons. I finished getting the power hooked up, lines just right. Mary is down below, cooking our first meal - hot dogs boiled on the stove, chips, etc. I come below, crack a beer, sit at the dinette, glowing in the fact that we are living the dream. No more trailering, dodging the knuckleheads on the inland waters, etc.

While Mary and I are pinching ourselves, we can hear another boat pull in next to us. Dinner just about ready. Mary sends me to find the boys. I jump onto the finger pier and the first thing I see/hear is my oldest son, Patrick, calling me from the cockpit of a brand new Sea Ray 400 Express, "Dad, you have to see this boat. They have two bedrooms AND a central vac!"

haha. cool stories. ours does look huge on the trailer but just a normal boat in the water. lucky for us we are between a 21' open bow and a 25' open bow. we are on B dock and 26' is the biggest that can go on B (finger slips). all the bigger boats are on C dock so we are one of the biggest on our dock

Same story. Bought a Sundancer 450 and thought I was done with boat envy. Two staterooms, two heads and a combination washer/dryer... living the dream. Then I went aboard a 2004 Sundancer 55 and envy was back with a vengeance. Don't even ask me how many refrigerators that boat had...

What I don't understand is the excitement over appliances. Honestly if you told me a house had central vacuum I'd be okay with it but not in awe. But show someone the washer/dryer on the boat and they have heart palpitations. "Hey honey, look you can do laundry while we are out the water"...

It's great to be able to do laundry while underway. When we get to where we're going, no laundry needs to be done, we can enjoy our destination! One less chore to do I guess after you get the boat secured and plugged in.

The PO of our boat did the loop with several other boats, when they got to certain ports the men would go and explore/play while the wives were back at the boats doing laundry. Not the PO's wife of our boat! She got to go explore/play because her laundry was done on the way over.

We're looking forward to not have to find a laundry mat because the washers and dryers at our marina are all in use.

I want to live in a bubble where my 370AC with it's 2 state rooms, 2 heads, central vac, washer & dryer, electric sofa, satellite, bow thrusters and new motors/electronics are king of the hill. unfortunately all I have to do is look at the 3 slips behind me to put me in my place. oh and I really wish my new 7.4's were diesel, anyone want to buy a nice 370AC?
