Drivetrain question

I was raised a auto mechanic and was a industrial machine repairer/electrician for 20 years. I'm now happily just an electrician. So, I have some background.

My questions are,(if money wasn't a factor), how feasible it would be to install that indmar raptor 575 on a 240 sundancer? Would the standard Bravo III handle the torque? Do all marine motors use the same mounts and output shafts?

I have seen several posts that the 260hp mercruiser is underpowering the 240. After only a few weeks of owning one, I have to agree. I understand I'm not piloting my 180 bowrider, anymore. But, I feel they should have left the 260 out of the option list.

No idea, but personally I wouldn't own a Cat engine. Would be simple easy to stick a 6.2 in your boat and cheaper.

No idea if the mounting is the same and I would say you are grossly overpowering the B3. You are in racing engine territory and need a racing outdrive to handle the torque.

The older I get the more I appreciate how nicely everything behaves at right around the 8-9 knot mark. Engines sound good, decent breeze, plenty of steering, drinks not spilling....ahhh...cocktail speed.....

A 575 in a 240 is funny crazy...… I only had a 525HP in my 27 Fountain...….lol

Had a 5.7 carb in my 97 250 DA and it was more than enough and got good fuel economy
