Drives...Keep it? or go Black?

For a few year Mercrusier let Sea Ray have their drives painted Oyster white, My paint is going to crap and I have only been able to find one paint (AWL Grip) that has a match. I know there used to be a canned spray, but have been unable to locate. SO....Should I leave them white? or sand em down and paint them the traditional black? I know there are various paints and applications. I know there have been a few threads, but I want my drives to be semi-shiny. Whats holding up well out there?

A quick Google of the part number 802878Q51 gets lots of hits. Looks like it was recently discontinued but you may still be able to find some to stock up on.

Thankyou SIR! I could not find the part number to do the search. Now I have what I need, maybe they will stay white! I guess I'm going to have to stock up on it. :thumbsup:

No problem, good luck. A couple places I looked said "no stock" but someone is bound to have a case of it in their warehouse.

I agree to keep them the original color if you can.

Given the uniqueness of the outdrives, with the SR logo, I would try to keep them original. There's not too many out there, and who knows, some weirdo might want to collect boats with them and give you millions for it.

Thats some very wishful thinking, but even then, I think I would still have a hard time letting her go to someone else! I don't know if you know the story, but I have already had to watch that happen once.
