drive wont go down! help ASAP!!

hey guys i have a 1988 sea ray sundancer with a 454 merc and alpha drive... anyways, i was going to change my prop the other day and i raised the drive and now it wont come down, on the throttle i would push up and nothing would happen (but i dont think it ever worked anyways) , when i push down button- i hear the trim pump trying to work, could this be a bad solenoid? or bad hydrualic ram?

Check solenoids/if they are clicking and there is fluid in the resevior. If the boat is still in the water put the drive in foward and at the same time energize the trim down button. If it goes down i will bet its the seals coroded in the piston caps. Rebuild /replace

Have you got enough fluid in the reservoir?

If you hear the pump working but nothing is happening that's the first thing I'd check.

If the pump is trying to work....then it would appear that the solenoid is fine sending power to the pump.

I just had to replace the "up" solenoid on mine......just had a "click" when pressing the control on the throttle lever or the trailer switch...but the drive wouldn't move.

Check for fluid if you haven't yet.
