Hey Guys,

i wanted to find out what the best way to drill and seal the holes in my transom. I picked up some epoxy and some 5200. I have to install a new swim platform bracket and mount my transducer.

Thanks Guys

Not to derail this thread, but does 5200 adhere well enough to Starboard that it would work to glue a starboard piece about 5"x 4" to the transom? I have a transducer to mount and don't want to drill any holes in the transom if possible.

5200 doesn't stick to Starboard, I haven't found anything that does..?

Watch the video in post #3.
That product (never see it before) seems to be using a two part epoxy that gets filled into a spiral sort of threaded hole. I guess it fills the threads to hold the starboard and the epoxy will stick to gelcoat....neat idea.

That is exactly what it does. The instructions say it makes it permanent, which makes sense since the only way to get it off would be to cut it off in some way then try to get the epoxy off by grinding/sanding. Probably could be done since its below the waterline and could be recovered with anti-fouling paint.

Stern Saver is a piece of starboard with 6 threaded holes that don't go all the way through. It comes with a self mixing epoxy syringe that is just enough to fill all the holes with some overfill. The video shows it. Its about $50 at WM.

Pretty cool product and address the OP about mounting his transducer.
I don't believe the epoxy sticks to the starboard, I think it has a mechanical hold via it being formed into the threads and a bond on the gelcoat side....overall a purdy neat product.

5200 will work for the swim brackets.
