Dress up your hose clamps with Clamp Jackets

I'm going to rush out grab me some of them. I'm struggling to find a practical need for those

.

Sometimes it's all about the looks. Although, it does cover the clamp ends so you're less likely scratch yourself.

It looks like those might be pricey. You can get plain ones (like what comes on clamps ends from the SR factory) at just about any auto store (or marine). You can even get colored ones.

I can say they do help eliminate the scratches. Don't ask how I know(Grin). Wife said I was just sticking my hand in places it should not have been. Every thing fine on the side that still have them on, looked like a cat got a hold of my arm on the other side of the engine that was missing them.

The previous owner of my 270 put red ones on all of the clamps - cool idea and it does reduce the scratches. I've lost a few at this point since I've replaced a few clamps and just during normal service work. Not sure I'd add them back - I have moved some around to the higher traffic areas though!

If improperly oriented on install a hose clamps is a "meat hook" and the worst ER injuries are from clamp cuts and scrapes.

There used to be these tips that were amde of plastic (red or black) and they were super cheap at maybe a bag of assorted sizes for $2. The prices skyrocketed to a buck a piece and no one bough them then no stores carried them because they were slow sellers.

There is a need, it just needs to be an inexpensive solution.

Thanks for the post. I have been looking for these cover so I can protect myself for those stainless steel circular razor blades. I am tired of getting cut and scratched.

Wow...I never knew there was such a problem with hose clamps. Either I keep my hands and arms where they belong or I am just lucky and haven't pulled a Gary.

Nice item, but not for me. I've seen too many of these in the bottom of my bilge. Seems like every time I'm looking in a new undiscovered cranny, I find small bits of rubber and plastic just waiting to lock up a float switch.

Well I didn't know you could get them at your local auto parts store :)

Hmm, my boat came new with them on all clamps, everywhere. Can't be the only SR made that way.

I haven't looked for them in a while - I can get them at our store pretty cheap...

Maybe what Chad said is correct and they're now hard to find/much more expensive?

They a great for prevented the clam from tearing up fore arms, they're also standard on Formula

yeah but if you buy them from an Auto store, they ain't Marine grade...

OK, bad joke... :smt038

But you are right. Really cheap at auto stores near you...

My boat was built with them. Much appreciated as I have a very tight ER.

Not so bad - I had a chuckle! :smt001

Chad,

Boat Owners Warehouse on Sample Rd has them, over with the clamps. I don't remember the exact price, but a bag did not seem that bad.
