For those of you who have been following my previous threads about my boating adventures; a new saga is about to begin. For several months (actually more like a year or more), I have been diligently searching for an upgraded model of my present boat - a 1988 270 Sundancer. On January 24 my search came to an end when I took possession of a 2002 30ft SeaRay. It has 5.0L MPI engines (a definite upgrade from carberated engines) with Bravo 3 outdrives(180 hours) and a Westerbeke generator (which had only 27 hours). My dad and I picked up the boat in Venice,Fl and ran it offshore to Tarpon Springs on Monday and arrived just after dark. The boat ran superbly and isn't too bad on fuel. I'll post some pictures shortly; hopefully within the next week.

Way to go! Nice boat.

Congratulations on fulfilling the dream! You'll like the Westerbeke genny, they are very quiet compared to a Kohler.

Great job, Kevin! I'm still trying to upgrade. Congrats!

Congrats!!Where do u have your previous boat listed at? Ive got a friend who is in the market for a 26-29'

Remember, the difference between a dream and an obsession is if you just think about it then it’s a dream. If you make it happen it’s an obsession.

Congratulations on your new obsession!

Congratulations!. I bought my boat from Tobnpr there in Tarpon Springs and spent a day test driving it all around there first. It seemed to be a great area to boat in and now this boat will open up new worlds to you. You can try that KW/Dry Tortugas trip again this year!

Congratulations! I recall reading about you and your boat in Hampton's Florida Keys trip log, happy you found the upgrade you were looking for!

I have to say that CSR members seem to be trying to keep the economy going single handed. So many people taking advantage of a soft market and upgrading. :smt038

The boat still smells new and the cockpit carpet was in sealed in bags and is still like the day it was made. It has the medium blue canvas top with the camper package. I really didn't like the color but when I found out it came with the slatback and full cockpit covers still in the bags I now don't mind it so much. One zipper on the arch needs to be replaced, but no big deal. I got band new oem manifolds, spacers, and elbows on the 180 hour engines in the deal also. The Westerbeke generator needs the raw water intake pump rebuilt because the seals are leaking from lack of use(27 hours). I have a few minor items to take care of but hey it's a boat. Next thing is to get the gps/radar/sounder installed. I'm not shure if my Raymarine c120 is going to fit the helm but will figure something out with that. I'm researching for an autopilot which is limited due to the sterndrives. I'm also going to upgrade the stereo system. I can only hope I can make it as good as John Hampton's 340 da. His sound system is awsome. I'm loving this boat already!!!!!! Oh I almost forgot, the boat has the s.s. windshield frame which I really like do to no corroded frame like my other boat. That was an all day project to sand and refinish it. Did I mention I LOVE this boat?
