The description in the parts manual of my 2004 SeaRay 260 for the drain flange is :

FLANGE, RED BRASS DRAIN PLUG 1.25"

The 1.25” number seems odd as all flanges available seem to be for a 1” hole…

Appreciate if anyone can shed some light on this

I have a very small leak of seawater in the bilge and would like to change this piece.

Are you talking about the garboard drain plug? It's not clear.

I feel like I'm stating the obvious here, but since you need to remove it to replace it... measure it when you get it out? Or at least go and measure the OD of the flange and compare - if the boat is in the water, just take a breath!

However, you don't need to replace it. Just remove, clean the area, check/fix any rotten coring in the transom (if any) and reseal/put it back in. If you're sure that's where the leak is, the piece (itself) isn't the problem - it's old sealant.

Don't forget, you're going to need to get to the INSIDE of the transom to remove the bonding wire. And, as long as you're doing that, you could measure the hole or OD of the part the plug screws into.

That's where I was going https://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-marine--garboard-drain-plug--P006_181_003_505?recordNum=1 but then I looked at the spec's and it made me think he is talking about the drain in one of the sinks???

Yes I’m talking about the garboard drain

Tks for the tips, dock is 2h away so knowing the dims in advance would save me a trip.

I was afraid about having to mess with a bonding wire …meaning bolts with a backing plate with nuts on the inside (where the wire is secured at?)…in a single engine 260 Sundancer that is underneath the engine at the far bottom of the bilge..so even if I don’t want to change the flange, I still need to reach from the inside to reseal?…I would need to hire a very small marine contortionist

One of the "screws" securing the garboard drain flange will be a bolt with nut, instead. Luckily, that's actually a very spacious bilge to work in. You do have the genny to contend with which tightens things up a bit. But if you remove the stuff on either the port side or stbd side shelf, you should be able to get down there - possibly only by "feel", though... which is par for the course when working on boats.

You can at least look down there (via looking underneath, over or around) to verify if the bonding wire is there.

There must be marine stores nearby where your slip is? Meaning, you can probably walk in to one of those with the part in hand and match it up. Or talk to them ahead of time and order two options.

Another option would be to just get it from your SR dealer - that way you would know for sure it's the right one. You might pay a few dollars more - but it may be worth your time to do that.

FYI... I'm not a chemistry major so I'm not sure why it's labelled as "red brass" but from memory, the flange sure looks/feels like bronze to me (which is what you WANT). Bronze will be more expensive... but this is also why it last soooo long... and why I mentioned you shouldn't have to replace it.
