Don't we all live like this?

It can be won. It takes the mental fortitude to understand it will be messy. You go in with some basic premises. 1. Go in to win. 2. Go in heavily armed . 3. Take no prisoners. 4. There will be colateral damage.

If you don't think that methodology works, check out the total number of race riots in Little Italy in Baltimore in the late 60's and early 70's took place. Answer = 0. The gangs knew the ramifications of bringing the fights inside certain limits.

The US is considered a Boy Scout and would never do this. Our government is a bunch of pussies and would never kill to win a war. C'Mon Man!

I don't know.... Why not ask your representatives in either house of Congress?

They don't know......... I think most of them are worse than the rest of us:)

Who are you planning to use that army on? The suppliers? At 1700% profit more will pop up to serve the demand. Maybe you mean to use that army on users, boy that will make a big internet and TV splash. It is one, the other, or both. Again we went through this during Prohibition and after a few years they threw in the towel, taxed, and regulated it.

The prohibition of drugs also makes things worse. In Prohibition many died from bad "bathtub gin" and its similars. The parallel today is meth, no one ever wanted meth but it was a drug that could be made at home for incredible profit, as illustrated in "Breaking Bad". Now we are re-learning lessons already learned at great cost, meth is a scourge one wouldn't wish on an enemy.

The drug "war" will not be won with guns...

Blu-ray, That sheriff is using that car and money to do one thing, satisfy goal 1b of every elected official, get reelected. What could be better free to his campaign than this eye catcher? such conspicuous see me type of defense has been used in the past as a cover for corruption. I know nothing of this situation so this is just an academic point.

So your saying.. an elected official that utilizes confiscated property and money from convicted criminals, instead of tax dollars, to assist in fighting crime is a bad thing?!?! And that a reputation of conspicuous tax savings, and an outright public taunting of what criminal unlawful behavior will lose, should NOT influence that persons re-election?
And how would that infer corruption? Law enforcement agencies that deal directly and physically with criminals, are by nature, under much more scrutiny than Typical elected politicians, especially when it comes to budgets and spending. Don

To me it is not a good or bad thing. I question if it really deters criminals or just looks good on TV or in the voters community? I further question if there are other things that could be done with that asset that may be more effective. Sheriffs make more money than any other elected official in the entire country.

Yes, Texas gov is $150k California is $206,500. Can't speak for any other state but in Indiana the sheriff serves all state tax warrants and executes all foreclosures among other lucrative jobs, they can make in the $300k+ a year (not the published salary), maybe more. I expect many sheriffs earn similar.

Great post Mike.
In my County here, a couple years ago the Sheriff came under fire when it became public that he had a second job.... He had a company that furnished food to the jail house that he was in charge of. He made 4 times his Sheriff salary by providing this service.

You go after the supply and the demand side. One can take the Singapore route or the Switzerland route.

Are you advocating legalization and government control of all drugs. IMHO, that ain't gonna happen. It's a business person's worst nightmare and a lawyers wet dream.
