don't want to run generator all day and night.

Great explanation "cod". As a factory captain I don't think I could have said it better. Will not move a huge amount of fuel but will do some transferring for leveling purposes after running all day.

I do know of customer who recently filled both tanks and then laid on the hook all day with a port feed and a starboard return. He was notified and was told his slick was almost a mile long. I was more than happy to tell him about the crossover panel in the cockpit.

Thanks cod !

I do not like to have my gen. running all the time and here is not that hot if you are anchored out. A/C is really needed only when moored at a marina, so I have 6 golf cart batteries to run the fridge and the ice-maker. I turn on the gen for cooking or to recharge the batteries once a day. It works fine!
Awesome! I got here by searching for quiet freezer runs on battery(ies) at night..Eskimos do it with a lawn mower engine, an auto alternator?(gen?)They run a light and quiet freezer @night..Maybe during summer..."Why do Eskimos use a refrigerator? To keep stuff from freezing!

I wish I had questions for my 450+dancers genny........but I dont.....b/c my dancer is a 260, but I run the genny all day and night when I want.

I do the same thing... run the Gen all the time... loaded up of course. Was advised by a Onan rep that the more you run it, the longer your Gen will last. In fact they recently had a boat come in that had 76000 hours on the Gen.... first overhaul....... so that is like 3166 days or 8.7 years of continues use. I was told to expect around 44,000 hours out of mine..... As everyone has said, never run the gen unloaded.... let it warm up for 15 minutes... the load it up.... same thing on the final shutdown... let it run unloaded for 15 minutes before you complete your final shutdown. For us everything is always on on the boat... if it is not AC... then it is Heat

I installed a 3K inverter. Runs all 120V AC circuits with the exception of the air conditioners. Very nice addition for overnight stays without having to run the generator

I run my GAS gennie all day/night while on the hook, except:
- while underway, unless my boy needs to take a nap, then I run it for the A/C
- while rafted up to another boat on my starboard

That being said, I have 3 CO monitors: 1 factory built in and 2 battery-operated: leave one in the aft berth where son sleeps and the otherin the cockpit by the steps.
CO levels seem to be between 0 and 38
