I am wondering if anyone has found a dog ladder that they are happy with. I have an 85 lb. lab that I would like to be able to get into my 215 Weekender. I don't have a swim platform so right now I can only get him on and off the front which is okay if I beach it or pull up to a pier but not very helpful if we are anchored out.

I have seen a friend try many different ones, and the one that worked was 2 red blow up pontoons, the red was tough material claws did not hurt with a mesh net between them that one end was deep, and one water level so as the dog swap into the channel/... his paws hit the mesh and he walked out of the water basically, and he would be on the platform/boat.

Is this it?

I have a great dane, he has been to the river with me once and I just picked his ass up as he could put his front paws on the swimplatform where we wher anchored ha.

I Highly Recommend the Dog On Water Ramp. We have one and our two Labs love it. It works well! We tie it to the swim platform or the end of the dock. If one ever fell overboard we could get her back on.
Here is a link to a you tube video that shows Zoey and Dakota using the ramp. Dakota - the Brown one will just sit in it in the water like her own floating chair.

As a side note the guy who invented and patent it happens to live in Tucson, AZ as do I. When I bought one he called me up and suggested that rather than pay the shipping I just come by and pick it up. So I did. It was fun to meet him.

Great. Thank you for the detailed info. Unfortunately, it is out of stock on Amazon but I will shop around. Pretty cool that you got to meet the inventor. My only concern is that it looks pretty bulky. Would love to find something that folds up and doesn't take a lot of space - a little less expensive wouldn't be bad either. I saw $349 as the MSRP for this one - I know, I know, - open boat, pour money.

I'll add another thumbs-up to the Dog On ramp. Our 85lb yellow lab has always been a nightmare to try to get on the boat. I actually installed U-bolts on the ramp so it snaps right into our Weaver davits, and it's amazing! It's well worth the cost, and it's not nearly as bulky as you think it is because the pontoons roll up into a very small package. But the ramp part itself is a bit of a struggle to find a good spot for it.

Thank you for the input. Nice to know it's not super bulky. By the time you load all of the people and dog toys it gets pretty crowded :)
