That must be one hell of a tub to warrant a crane of that magnitude!

Had a friend did that, to remove fences, repair lawn damage, it was cheaper to rent a crane and bring over the house.
Problem was her bar went bankrupt not long after cause she was sucking every dime of profit out of it to support her new hot tub, in ground swimming pool, Mercedes, etc.
Sold it all. Now a barmaid somewhere in Florida.

Good Lord, 2 guys rolled mine to the back yard using PVC tube pipes. From the house pics looks like they could have done the same.

I'm a former crane operator, now operations manager for the crane company. We sit a few of these swim spas every week. Sometimes 2 a day. It's crazy what a craze these things are. If I'm reading the model number right on that crane it's a Linkbelt 90 ton crane. Probably 140' long boom. We have used our 165 ton crane to set these. It just depends on how far they have to reach. I don't recognize that crane company and I'm in the same area as you Jus Cruisin....

I must be a dinosaur, put mine on my dinghy trailer and rolled it around in back where it needed to be. Tilted the trailer and un-cranked the winch. Took a bit to get it set right on the platform but hey done in an hour.

??? Don't get it, I spelled it right ... Even if I did use google to check it :D

I said Dinosaur because I still do mostly everything myself, too cheap to pay anyone for what I can do myself.
Not dinosaur; practical and self-reliant. Well, maybe that does make us dinosaurs...

This is how I had my hot tub put into my backyard. To get it back there without the crane would have required going up a berm then moving it over uneven, rocky ground behind 2 4-unit townhouses until you got to my back yard. The rent on the crane was only $150 (granted that was 5 years ago, could be more now). So, not a completely unreasonable thing to do.

That makes sense. I would have guessed the crane would have been a lot more expensive.

 $150.00? We don't start the engine for under a 4 hour minimum. Our cheapest crane is around $1200.00 for the 4 hours. The crane in the picture should have a separate truck that came with it to haul the counterweights. All our guys are union and that job depending on how far away from crane yard was (2 guys, semi truck, crane, permits) probably pushing $3,000.00.

This is our newest crane, bought in June for 1.3 million

This is our biggest, it was 3 million. The trailer was $120,000 and it needs 4 of them to haul the counterweights.
It would take alot of $150 hot tub jobs to pay for it.

You're right. There was a semi with pads and weights. And, the truck with the swim spa.

I was calling you a Dinosaur :)

Ah Hell ... Can't hide that one.

It's funny how society looks at people when they get older, they usually know more and are a bit stuck in the past. But isn't that better then not knowing a dam thing and proclaiming to be an expert!
