Does your marina offer a refund on your slip contract?

Our slip is in a county park - it very nice and we love it. Renewal notices are sent out in December - Payment in Full for year required by end of January or you no longer have a slip. Renew and leave during the year (or downsize) - no refunds - Upgrade during the year if your boat fits in the slip size allowed you pay the difference - if it does not see previous statement. New slip holders that come in mid-year should someone leave will also pay for full year - even if they come in during October for one month. If you sell your boat new the owner also has to vacate slip. County loves to double dip.

Sounds like Long Island government.

What happens November 1st? Have to come out? What if wanted to stay in with bubblers?
Ours is 12 month so no extra to leave in water. I do winter haul which is a separate fee.
It doesn’t freeze over that fast. Ours is a season - April 15 to November 15 or Dec 1 I think. Owners like to pull me last because of the size of my boat. We cannot stay in year round. Nor would I want to here.

I found out last year that if you take a slip at my marina, you must also pay for winter storage or loose the slip. It wasn’t in the contract. It wasn’t a problem until I was between boats. I didn’t have a problem with the policy; I had a problem it wasn’t in the contract and I wasn’t told.

At my marina you have to pay for next year before the current season is over, sometime in September. No refunds, no way. No sub-letting. No boat but your own. If you sell your boat, you have to have the marina's ok to let the slip go with it, although as far as I know, they usually agree.

As soon as Nov comes, you get the second bill for haul/powerwash/blocks/wrap

Last year they were running late so I think it was first week of November.

There are a couple of big tug style all-metal boats that stay in, but that's it. And the city police keep a boat there.

I have thought about getting a fitted cover, so I don't have to wait for the wrap since there can be a delay for that too, and also so I can un-cover it on my own.

We had a huge storm blow in right during the last week of October and some of the guys were hauled in advance.

There's a 250 (identical to yours) in the next row over. They had the tiniest lines you've ever seen, and only the stern line held. Once the bow swung around and it was sideways in the slip, the bow pulpit was up on top of the stern of the CC next to it. And the stern right where you get on was slamming into the dock, destroyed the rub rail and took off a bunch of gel coat. That is getting repaired now while it's on blocks.

My marina is run by a municipality and runs solely by rules designed to benefit them.

Refund? No way, ever and they will double dip at every opportunity.

I've been at the same marina for 19 years. We're billed up front for the entire season and they'll prorate and give a refund if you leave. If they terminate your slip rental for breaking the rules you're out the money, no refund. They will allow sublets according to contract but they must approve, I'm not aware of anyone ever getting that approval.

A couple times when a boat has been sold they let the new owner stay, paying transient fees, until the new owner could find somewhere else to go. That was for a couple weeks or so.

Full price up front due in Feb, for May 1 to Nov 1

Last year some of my neighbors were gone a month early, and the marina parked some people in their slips for the remaining time

The GM and his wife are great people, with a slip next to me. They asked if I was getting hauled out early too. I said hail no, I am running this boat up until the last possible day!

As long as the dock across from me has a yacht under 200' long my slip is super easy in and out so it's one of the first slips they rent to transients, I see none of that revenue.
