just wondering what you guys are seeing. I'm being told 2 different stories. One that it's normal and the other that my engines are ingesting water. It happens on both engines most of the time, mostly when it's cold. I know I probably don't have a problem, but was wondering what causes the steam.

Nevermind..you can comment though if you like. Sounds perfectly normal from what I'm reading. The person that told me steam is bad is a boat mechanic and owns his own yard...and no I don't use him...lol thanks.

Same year and engines as you. Mine do this as well. We were on a long cruise this week and the weather was far from cold and I did see steam out of both exhausts. It was white (as opposed to blue meaning oil) but I'm interested in thoughts. Running temps are around 170* on both engines (closed cooling).

I have 7.4s and get steam depending on conditions. Early season when is colder I get more but it still happens through the year. It's been doing it since I bought the boat. 5 years. If you actually look up some of the brochure pictures on the searay archives and look at the cover photo there is almost always a steam trail behind the boat.
