Does or did any of you chew ?

Good luck Fetch! Tough addiction to quit, but if you can now just get past the psychological addition and habits that went along with it, you can easily beat it. I imagine it is the same as smoking in this respect.

i dip and have quit several times but then the grass needs to be cut and I need a chew to cut the grass....i guess when I finally give it up I'll have to teach the wife how to push a lawnmover :)

Those are the habits that make it most difficult to quit, Ill definitely back you on that one. Same here, certain things I do trigger the psychological attachment to smoking.
When I strap the backpack blower on to do the leaves for the next few hours, the impulse to smoke is so strong it is difficult not to grab a smoke. It creates the image in my head of how I did this for years on end and how I enjoyed it.

The whole secret to quitting, imo, is that you need to break these trigger mechanisms and create new outlets for the stimulus. Such as now maybe Ill get a couple of tootsie rolls or something instead of smoking. Or Ill sing REALLY loud with my iPod on during the leaf cleanup. Occupy my mind.

Until you break the triggers and/or come up with new outlets, quitting to smoke (chewing, drinking any habitual ritual) is almost impossible.
