Well.. I don't know what else to ask other than what is in the subject line. I know the Clarion CMD5 supports Sirius radio but I want to get XM instead. The literature seems to have changed over the last few months and it says:

Expandability features:
CeNET control of TV tuner, CD changer, satellite radio, and iPod
iPod ready (requires optional EA1276B)
XM and SIRIUS Satellite Radio ready
Bluetooth interface ready
rear auxiliary input with integrated drip shield
3 sets of preamp outputs (front, rear, sub)

Now... When I download and look at the instruction manual and installation manual, it only discusses Sirius...

Any insight on this?

I don't have Satellite yet, but have done a little research. My Clarion is an older super cool cassette version.
I'd like to upgrade though because my Gloria Estefan tape is almost dead.
Luckily I have the 6 disc changer too.
Anyway, I believe you can get a XM direct tuner box and wire in into the head unit of the Clarion. This way if I've asked the correct questions of the XM people, the head will then display and control properly.

It's a project for the Fall/winter for me, but I have looked at them.

Go with Sirius!
They will be the same soon anyway. Gary aren't you a Howard Stern fan??

Well... this is not a XM/Sirius debate... I have WxWorx which is based on XM weather so I already have the XM antenna and service... just nothing to get the audio. I also have XM in my wife's Honda.

I switched to XM when I switched to the Garmin 5208 for my 320 so I could get XM Weather, which is amazing..However to run XM radio which I wanted, my installers ran it where I put the Clarion remote to Aux, and go to XM radio on my Garmin to choose programing.

yeah I called XM a couple weeks ago and that's what they said you needed. I was looking at the same head unit you are or already have.
Let us know how it works

Well, Sirius programming is better than XM if for nothing more than Radio Margaritaville.

BUT, Gary, you can take the output out of one of your sat receivers into the AUX input on the CMD and get XM that way.

The Aux input is plugged into the internal AV system (one of the Audio Authority AVAtrix output wall stations) so all of the stuff in the AV cabinet is available through the Clarion... so that won't work. Also, the Clarion output also plugs into the AVAtrix so the Clarion can have it's sound piped to the cabin/staterooms. My desire was to not put an XM receiver on the AV rack in the salon and chew up one of the AVAtrix ports as I would have to lose one of the sat boxes to do that. I did buy a Polk XM tuner (nice one) but I'm going to put that in the house. Hence.. put XM on the Clarion and solve the problem.

Follow that? ;-)

Sirius is not an option

I do. I have never set up a Clarion with XM so I do not know if it can be done through the CE interface.
