Does anyone use a "Booster Ball" when towing a Tube?

I am curious if these things help or not.

They are designed to mount half way down the tow rope between the tow eye and the tube itself. On my 260 DA the rope drags through the wake something terrible and if this gets the rope out of the wake I would consider one. They are about $90 so I don't want to spend the money only to find they don't work.

Dave -- I recall reading a thread about these awhile back. If memory serves me, they do work. I tried searching for you but came up empty. I think the original post was about the tow rope getting caught on the swim ladder and someone said the booster ball would help.
