does a 2000 310 SD actually have a cockpit ice maker?

This is what we are shopping for, not the ice maker but the boat. But I forgot to look for it when we were looking at one last month. Probably because I was frozen. All of the listings on Marine Max for 310's say ice maker but I can't find one in the pictures.

I know I am mental, but you guys didn't know it until now. I am freaking out because the seller did not accept our offer, because he changed his mind and doesn't want to sell his boat any more. The other boat that we had in mind got sold while we were waiting on the unseller to make up his mind and the third boat I had my eye on apparently sank.:smt021

Now I am back to searching for the perfect 310. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Friends of mine have an '01 310DA. They bought a free-standing ice-maker and put it in the corner to port of the companionway. It fits perfectly, cost under $200 and there's an AC outlet under the cockpit sink to provide power.

Wish 2 fish, you are right. I am just not thinking very positive today. But a point well taken. That would truly suck!!

rollercoastr, thank you for you answer. I don't nes. need one, but just in case I change my mind that is great info to know. You never know....that blender may be going and going this summer.

That is of course hoping we find the right boat by then.....But I have hope.

I have a 2000 310 and do not have an icemaker nor is there really room for a built in one. The freestanding idea would probably work out but that area is a major congregation area when you have a number of people on the boat.

Queenie,

You sound like my wife, she will not take ice from the cooler for a drink, it must be "good ice", meaning it must still be in the plastic bag. How pure is the water ice companys use to make ice anyway?

Anyway, I have a cockpit ice maker and as soon as it gets a little warmer I'm replacing it with a cockpit refrigerator............I'd rather have more refrigerator room. Don't let the lack of a ice maker be a deal breaker, they are next to useless on a boat.

John

Thanks raven, definately not a deal breaker. I was just wondering really because Marine Max kept listing in their features on the boats and I just couldn't see it. I thought just maybe Sea Ray found a great place to hide it or something.

I am with you I would probably want more fridge space too. I hate having too many coolers on the boat.

Is this a trick question? There is no 2000 310SD. The largest Sun Deck built is a 290SD.
You must have meant a 310DA (Sundancer).

Obviously it all boils down to space; but I would never call an icemaker "next to useless on a boat" that's equipped with a generator. I agree there's limited value without a gen to run it. During the summer it's always left on, always a cold drink at the ready and never a need to pack a cooler for a quick run out.

Saves having to bring along a huge cooler filled to the top with ice on longer trips- we just bring a small one (for the beach) and stock it each day from the icemaker. If you've got the room, get one. Mine's in the galley, but if you mount in the cockpit just be sure to protect it as much as you can.

I have an ice maker in the cabin of my 340. The ice never really tasted that good so we quit using it. I had to pull it out one day to install a new galley sink faucet and I got the ideato just shut off the water to it. Now we buy a bag of ice at the marina store before we go out and dump it in the ice maker bin. It works great that way. The ice tastes great and I don't have to worry about the mechanicals of the maker.

How often did you use the water on your 250DA for coffee? ever just grab a glass of refreshing tap water?? didn't thinks so. We had ours for 7 seasons and always used bottled water. I imagine the same would prove true with the ice maker. It just never seems to taste right

Just ordered one of these with an icemaker attachment :)https://www.generalecology.com/Merc...de=GE&Product_Code=420007&Category_Code=NP001

With 4 of us aboard for a few days- especially in the summer- there's a LOT of water to be lugged aboard. Seems stupid to waste so much stowage space for water- when there's 100 gallons of it under my feet.

Maybe that's why it tasted funny, get your feet out of it.

sorry, I couldn't resist
