How long can a boat as ours stayed tied up at the dock and not moving????
except for an occasional start up weekly. what are the negatives?

If you are in the ocean and not the river you will get some fouling and maybe barnacles. Props and rudders will get some growth most likely. Fresh vs salt.
other than that should be ok.

Thanks.....were in a Bay inlet 1 Mile from the open Bay....No ocean or river....

Agree to a point. I don't know why you are not using the boat. That is your business. Using the boat is the best prevention for growth. That said, I've seen boats not move for years with no problems UNTIL they try to move..... They don't. Additionally, I would be concerned about the intakes getting fouled. Lack of cooling water will shut down your HVAC leading to interior mold, overheated mains and gennie.

At a minimum, I would have divers look at the bottom based on the growth patterns in your area.

My $0.02

We're staying in middle river this year and have the same concerns. I'm gonna try to run 'er every other week or so. Hoping getting on plane, running the genny and ac will keep things free.

Agree with David. Bottom maintenance (divers) would be required... Not really a big deal. then when the boat does have to move, bottom maintenance would be required

Me experience is once water starts warming up (June) don't sit for more than 2 weeks or you will get growth.

Thanks,
It will not be for years, months maybe 2, i have 2 broken arms in casts due to a skydiving accident......
I somehow manage to start her up 2 times a week......

Perhaps a CSR road trip rotation is in order to offer piloting assistance to our downed comrade....

Bill, sorry to hear about your accident and the casts. Do you have any friends there who could take you and your family and friends for a ride? That would get you on the water (and keep you away from parachutes!) and keep the barnacles down.
