I have the current little "wheels" on my dock, and want to upgrade the protection factor this spring before the boat goes in - and suggestions?

I thought about using those bigger air filled wheels. They look great, but then I saw a dock mate go into his with his 39' Sea Ray Bridge - and it compressed all the way and he ended up putting in a nasty gouge in his fiberglass, so not going that direction.

I'm going to put a V shaped cushion type pad on the metal corner itself, but want something more robust for the corner "wheel".

Any suggestions and or links are greatly appreciated.

The best bumpers I have seen are the round ones that look like a crab trap float. They come in various size 8" 12" and bigger. They are very thick and they do not collapse like cylindrical fenders. I see some permanently mounted on docks at impact points.

The big wheels inflated properly should not compress the way you describe. Your buddy in the 39DB must have been coming in pretty hot.
