I ran across a year ago what could be a one of a kind Sea Ray. The story is great; but I think it's time I checked it's accuracy, so I thought I would start here. There was a man well up in the years that came in my shop last year and ask if I wanted to buy his boat. I wasn't so interested at first since it was an older boat. He encouraged me to take a trip across town to see it. Under a tarp in a fallen down building was this 1974 SRV190 in near perfect condition. He had bought it new, and never had kids so it was, and is amaizingly nice. Here's the weird part. It is powered by an Evinrude 140 outboard. Yes, outboard. I had never seen one. He proceeded to tell me that he was best friends with the Evinrude dealer in our little town back then, but he wanted to buy a this body SeaRay. He said he had it on order somewhere in Minnesota when he had told his friend the Evinrude dealer. They about lost their friendship. He called to cancel the order and explained and they offered to build the boat as an outboard rig, so he could power it up with his friend. The boat has a plaque on the dash that reads " Built especially for Bob Martin" with the SeaRay logo. He thought it was a one of a kind build. Anybody know otherwise? Thanks Jim

I would like to know more and see some photos.
A 1974 190 is not all that *SNAP* but a factory order and the tag is factory?
Let me know more.http://spookeaymarine.info/

Fellow Clubsearay member Jbisky has a 1976 SRV 190 with a 150 Merc Outboard. Sea Rays were available with outboard motors and I have seen a few for sale here and there. Mostly late 60's and early to mid 70's. Not sure of the specifics or details of which years and sizes.

As for the "Custom Made by Sea Ray...."

I have one in my '89 340 that was the original owners and I have a blank one that I bought on ebay that I was going to have engraved in my name.

My 1982 210 cuddy has the "especially built for" plaque on it with the original owners name. I am the second owner. I left the plaque on as is, figured it part of the original history of the boat.

My boat was originally owned by Scott Samuelson, the owner of Swim Platforms, Inc. Scott and I have become friends so I am going to remove the plaque and send it to him.

I bought the blank one to have engraved with our names.
