I should know this and I am fairly certain that I do not have smartcraft gauges but need to know. 2002 Sundancer 240 with the 5.0EFI motor. The only digital aspect of any of my gauges is a LCD hour meter in my tach. Any method of confirming smartcraft or not? Connector in the engine?

Hopefully henry boyd will chime in here - you deffinately dont have smartcraft gauges but your motors may be "smartcraft ready"

It sounds like you have what Sea Ray called their 'Next Gen' gauges, our 02 280 had them. If you can get access to the back of the gauges they will have a rectangular plug with six (?) pins. Whether your engine is Smartcraft capable is another issue. It seems SR did not implement Smartcraft until it was available for all power packages. For example our 496 was designed to use Smartcraft but Sea Ray used their own gauges instead because other engines offered on the 280 were not compatible. Check the top of the engine. The dust cover plastic thingie should have a decal on it stating the engine is SC compatible. The other thing you can do is contact Mercruiser with your engine serial number and ask them.

Someone told me to look at the main electrical connector near the engine that goes to the helm? I am fairly certain my gauges are all analog - no plugs with pins at the back of them, just two/three wire hookups.
