Do I have a return fuel line?

I'm assuming a return fuel line would be a hose that comes from the motor back to the fuel tank. I checked my fuel tank connections and only see the fill hose, vent hose and the feed line to the motor...so I'm assuming I don't have a return line. Sound right?

I was thinking about adding the F210 fuel flow meter from Northstar but it won't work if my vessel is equipped with a return fuel line.

Brad,
You are correct, no return fuel line.

Instead of adding a third party fuel flow, you might consider using Smartcraft. At the least the capability should be on your engine (it is on newer ones). If it has already been installed you may just need a gauge to tap into the data network.

Smartcraft has been around since 01, but SR apparently did not begin to implement it until 04/05 for reasons that are not completely clear. My 280 engine was SC enabled, but the boat gauges were analog.

The advantage of SC is that there is much more data than just fuel flow that can be obtained, water pressure, engine temp, voltage, fuel burn rate RPM, speed, trim, etc. and with additional sensors, fuel, fuel consumption, integration with GPS, depth, steering angle, etc.

Learn something everyday - didn't realize the Mercury outboards were Smartcraft enabled. Found this link while looking that up. It shows what is enabled for each engine size/family.

I looked into Smartcraft and it looks like the Mercury 115hp 4-stroke doesn't support Smartcraft. If anyone knows differently please let me know.

Edit:
Ok, I just looked at the specs online and it has a "yes" next to Smartcraft. Now I just need to find out if the 2005 version does...I'll look in my owners manual when I get home tonight.
