I hear they sensitive and water spray will set them off. From what i have read on Cruising World and Sailing (hey dont judge me i like to read about offshore blue water sailors) they keep them in cabin near the cabin way. Out of spray but close enough to flip switch if going down.

Personally i dont need a ditch bag. So many boats by me that my biggest fear is getting run over while in water yelling for help.
