Is there an iPhone app that shows distance by boat? Free? All normal ones show by land.

Just spend a few dollars on the Navionics app. It's great for planning if nothing else. I use it laying in bed to plan legs of trips. I can't give it a high enough rating.

+2 for Navionics, low cost, reliable, works on IPhone, iPad, and Android. Recently completed an 8 day trip with it, the search features for marinas, fuel, etc. are handy, plugged in my gl/hour burn, cruise speed and minimum depth, auto routed me to each stop and adjusted the time length for no-wake zones, etc. Won't leave home without it!

There is a ruler icon at the bottom of the map. Click the ruler and set your waypoints on the map. A pop up will give you distances
