I just bought a Nautley Dinghy Ramp for our '97 400DA. Right now, we have a 13' inflatable dinghy that is entirely too large to put on the swim platform. But I want to pick up a standard 310 (9ft) for the davits and keep it on the swim platform. Since I don't have the dinghy yet, I'm hoping someone else can lead me in the right direction for the proper distance between davits. Anyone out there have a Nautley Ramp with a 9th dinghy? What's the distance between your davits?

I do not have a Nautley ramp but a homemade ramp that is very similar. I set the spacing on mine at 45” for the Walker Bay which is a 270 (8’ 10”). My new Aluminum rib which is 9’ 6” seems to fit on there just as well. The shape of the bottom and weight of the outboard may play into spacing, as well as location of structural supports of your swim platform for through bolting the mounts. Also most 310’s are a tick over 10’, so if you are going with the 10 footer, you might want to go further apart.

Your platform is very similar in dimensions to mine. How does your 9'6" fit on there? I really don't want something as large as a 310 because I'm worried it will take up the entire platform. But there aren't a lot of rigid-bottom options out there smaller than a 310. So I'm stuck weighing the options of a larger hard-bottom or a smaller inflatable bottom, and I'm torn between which direction I want to go.

We could put the 310 on the platform, but went with the 290 because of the size and weight. Whatever you buy, keep in mind that you have to pull it up onto the ramps. I use a block and tackle for our current boat because it doesn’t have good hand holds on the transom to hang onto while pulling.

When mounting our davits, I was told to try to space them so one was close to the transom of dinghy and one close to where the tube begins to taper to form the bow. On my previous 28, that put the davits approx. 33" apart. I just purchased a 310 so I think that spacing will move out to something around 42-44".

10.2 Zodiac RIB. 53" apart.
