I'm hoping you guys can help, I'm stumped.

I've got a 1988 340 Express. I get a sheen on the water coming from the starboard engine that I can't seem to get rid of. It started as a small annoyance last fall and is now an embarrassment. The boat runs fine, but whenever I'm idling it leaves a trail in the water.

I'm almost certain that it's gas causing the problem and not oil. I thought it was the carb dripping a little gas into the engine when I was at idle and I replaced it. Didn't help.

Any thoughts on what it could be?

Check your engine anti-freeze overflow jugs - you may be losing coolant due to a leaky heat exchanger.

If it is gas, you're not getting fuel burn in one (or more) cylinders...
