Dinghy Navigation electronics

They put a small antenna on mine. It looks like the one they used to use on car phones back in the day.
How well does it work provided its not designed to reach long distances?

Have not tested yet but the marine electronic shop guy said it would work well.

Also curious about the transducer, what is the consensus on through bolting it to the transom. Is that the safer preferred method of installation?

Mine is a puck on a bracket bolted to the Transom. I am not sure there would be a mounting pad for a thru hull transducer built into a dingy. It would be a fair amount of glass work to add it. I don’t think it is necessary. The stern mounted one works great on the dingy and on my 19spx.

A lot of you guys have an interesting take on the term "dinghy"

Thats what i meant. Is the mounting bracket through bolted at the transom?

Oh, through bolted as opposed to threaded into the transom. Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking. I am not sure on mine. I would have to check.

Here’s mine
