With all these thunderstorms here on the East Coast this summer, I am continually having pools of water form on my dinghy as the cover creates a swimming pool. I've tried putting some supports across the dinghy to prevent this but it isn't really working. What do the rest of you all do? I can't keep the cover tight enough to prevent the pooling.

Thanks in advance

I dont have a dingy, but possibly a piece ot PCV pipe maybe two to three feet high (depending how much you can stretch your cover) with a good size piece of foam on the top of it (to prevent the cover from being damaged) should work. The pipe should be about 3" diameter and will work good I would think as long as you have a solid floor. This will be a cheap fix you can do yourself.

I use one of my round fenders. Dock mates use round Beach Ball. Works very well. JC

I just ordered the cover for my dinghy from iboats.com, as well as a vented pole support for about $20.00...have a friend who has one and it does the trick...

Thanks guys - it looks like a fender, ball or pool toy is going to be my best bet. I have an extendable post but it is a bit long and threatens to puncture the cover.

I just added a round fender to my dinghy earlier today. I've been fighting the same problem. I tied a line onto it so it hangs just off the back of the seat. So far, so good.

The "duck pond" had been the bain of my existence for several years, trying several things like boat hooks, foam noodles, lines tied from bow to outboard all to very little success until last month as I was doing the usual lay on the swim platform to install the dinghy cover and it hit me like a lightning bolt...a folding chair! Just a small-ish nylon chair with the tubular frame opened up and set on the floor at the right point holds the cover to the perfect height for my 10'6" 310RIB! I've had a dry cover ever since and now I'm finally a happy camper!
