Dinghie - Must cary Items NYS?

Hi, I now have My Reg for my NY. Dingy 8Ft Zodic w/ 4 HP motor. ( Great another $100 for Tax.)
I will be putting the numbers on (3 in) w/ Reg stickers
Now what equipment should I have. I have done a search on this site and NY Web site and I think I will need...
1) A Life vest for each person
2) Anchor.
3)Horn / Whistle
4) Orange flag.
5) I have a Cable and Lock. Hey,it is New York.
What type of anchor is best? I do have a Small Danforth anchor that came with the boat which I use as a second anchor I guess I can put it in a Bucket. ( Great the damn Dingy is small enough already )
This whole thing is getting to be more trouble than its worth for the few hours that we would be using it to explore.

NY is crazy. They would require an anchor on an 8' dinghy with a trolling motor, but not a 70mph jet ski. Ridiculous.

If it was me, I would buy a sand anchor (a bag you fill with sand or rocks) or the smallest, lightest weight, most easily storable anchor I could find. Maybe something like a folding grapnel. I'd put this in a small duffle bag to help keep the dinghy uncluttered.

Funny thing is, we sell these "sand anchors" at the store... they're actually labeled "PWC Anchor"!

What's the orange flag for?

You might also want a light. I bought a little suction cup light that mounts to the top of the outboard. I run the dink at night a lot. I also put a sponge in the dink to get some of the water out.

Watch your toes on the danforth, I just use a small mushroom anchor.

John - a whistle is all that you need for the horn. Now, if you want the air horn because it's louder, that's fine. Just so you know you aren't "required" to have it.

I don't know about your engine, but mine has a shear pin on the prop shaft, so if you hit something, the pin shears, saving the gears. Certainly not a must carry, but I keep spare cotter pins and shear pins. I also carry a pair of pliers to get the prop off to replace the pins.

Dont forget a patch repair kit, it should come with the dinghy, glad I just bought a new 1 before I left for this trip, because a t storm was blowing through and I tossed my new beach chairs in it a put a damn hole in the#@$*^&%$@@@?! thing.pshhhhhh I hate that sound.
