Dimmer switch for main cabin light 2007 260DA

Have tried unsuccessfully to replace the rocker switch that controls the main cabin light fixture (halogen bulb) with 2 different dimmer switches. Can this light be controlled by a dimmer and if so how? Light works off battery, generator and shore power.

That light is 12 volts and requires a 12 volt dimmer such as this. http://www.kicklighting.com/PWM-dimmer-switch-for-LED.htm If you are using a regular 110Volt dimmer, that is why it is not working.

sea ray offers dimmer module on some of their boats for cabin lights, hard-top lights and lights on switch panel. you could use one of those, but it will require changing light switch to momentarily type.
