Difference between DA and SE?

SE is actual "special Edition" 270 which were only made in 1998 and 1999. The beam is 8'6" for trailering. The regular DA beam is 9'2". There are a couple of threads pros and cons about the difference betweeen the two models.

The 94-97 da had the same 8-6 hull. In 98-99 da was a new 9-2 hull, leaving Sea Ray without a large trailerable. They continued the 8-6 hull as an se until the 260 came out in 99. In 99 they had 2 large trailerables.

Here's a little more info about the 270SE. In 98 when the narrow 270 was renamed the 270 SE, they removed a lot of previously standard equipment. SeaRay wanted the 270 SE to compete with cheaper boats of the same size.

In 97, the standard engine was the 7.4. In 98, the SE model came standard with the 5.7. The removed a deck hatch, standard head became a port-a-potty, etc. There's a whole lot more equipment that was standard in 97 and became optional in 98.

I had a 99 270SE, in addition to what's been said, the cabin interior had carpet like fabric throughout the cabin, except for the head. It came with a 3 gallon porta pot, which we promptly upgraded to hold just over 6 gallon. I had the 7.4L and fell in love with the boat for a 7 year relationship. It was a great boat to help me decide what I wanted in the next boat....my 300DA.

I immediately upgraded to a 6 gallon tank. However, I am still thinking of upgrading to a vacuflush in my head with a holding tank. Plenty of room in my engine compartment for a holding tank. Otherwise I love the 270SE. I like to refer it as a crossover. A larger runabout or a small cruiser. A great weekend boat.

I like the extended swim platform you have on yours...you're right about having a plenty of engine room, I could set on my butt and change spark plugs...not anymore!
