Diesel or gas?

I dont know about that my 2011 2500 hd gets better mileage then my old 2005 the only difference is DEF fluid which I add every 7000 miles for $25.00 Ive owned 3 Duramax and one ford never looked at cummins due to the noise and the power stroke is loud to.Every thing I have read in the recent years puts the Duramax at the King of the hill. Just my .02 but every one has there likes and dislike I say buy what you like
 
I have a noisy diesel, 2000 4X4 CrewCab F250 7.3L Turbo 132,000 miles on it. If I remember correctly the manual said 10k lbs, or something close to that. The motor is programmed using the old Edge Evolution. I had programmed it for the Race setting and never adjusted it again. It is supposed to add 100hp and 100ft lbs. I also added a over-sized tranny cooler this year after 3 yrs of pulling a 200 fourwinns 240 and 2yrs of pulling a 2000 340 DA. After recognizing my tranny temps were high due to the air flow restriction from the front oversize load sign while pulling a friends Regal across the state I got a new breathable sign, but still opted for the over-sized cooler. The stock tranny cooler was mounted behind the bumper right were the sign is. The new cooler is mounted up in the grill now and at least 2X the size. When I pull I have to be pushing at least 20K lbs Trailer and boat loaded. The motor and trany do fine now; it is the handling that is scary. Just need to be sure I have good tongue weight and it does good, but you do not want to be moving at 70mph that is for sure.
