Took advantage of a great July day in October yesterday, It’s the end of a long season the outdrives are covered with barnacles and crap! When I powered up the port engine RPM’s went way up to 4500 and the starboard was at the typical 3000 – 3500. It was difficult to get up on plane and could not get the speed I usually get. Did I spin a Prop? They’re nice stainless steel props, no sure what kind?

Are you sure that the prop is still there ??.

I had one come off while crossing the lake :wow:.

Im not an expert by any means but when I broke the hub on mine I couldnt go more that 5 knots, none the less get close to on plane.

I didn't have ss props so I don't know. I guess anything is possible.

Can you put a mark on the hub/prop then put it gear to see if the mark has moved.

I'm not much help to ya but trying. :smt001

No thanks for the input I'm an electrician not a mechanic so any advice is greatly appreciated. I seams like the starboard engine was doing all the work. Is it possible the prop is slipping under heavy loads.

Yes it is poss to spin a hub on a ss prop. each case is different as far as when the prop will spin on the hub. Fairly cheap fix when you pull the prop and replace the hub.

We spun the hub on a SS prop on our last boat. Took both of them in and got both serviced. Think the bill was under 150.

Thanks for all of the info everyone, this is a great site. Its a sad day when you know the next trip on the boat is to the landing when it will be yanked for the season. But 2011 has been a great boating season in Falmouth and the islands. Can't wait for next year. I will have both props serviced.
