morning all,,,so, im lying in bed this morning contemplating life's big boating questions, you know, how deep is the ocean ?, how much fuel does my boat use?, when am i going to launch the boat ? (next Saturday hopefully), all that dumb Sh*t. So, one question popped up, and i'm sure its been asked and answered somewhere in here before,,,,, how can one test / detect stray current (electricity) in the water surrounding one's boat ? i don't have my boat in yet, and I don't think I've ever had a problem before and doubt there is any problem now, but just something I'm curious about. I have a Fluke meter but don't know if that could be used to check. Any thoughts, answers, comments ? Have great Memorial Day !

After a local boating family lost their young adult son to stray current on a transient dock, friends of mine bought a floating detector before they’d let their daughters use paddle boards near boats.

Theirs looks like a big cheaply-built EPIRB and cost about $80, but there are several on the market.

I keep meaning to buy one myself.
